Learning is vital in order to succeed. In my Introduction to Education class, we've learned about different learning theories and how the brain actually learns. Knowing this information, regarding learning, can be a tremendous help to teachers with understanding their students. It's important to address all learning theories so students can achieve the very most. Not only will students be able to discover the way they learn best, but also discover what other options there are when it comes to learning. Along with studying several learning theories, we discussed how the brain functions and obtains information. The learning theories and functions of the brain go hand-in-hand in supporting each other with the way we learn as human beings. When teachers know this information they will know how to help their students learn best.
My first day observing in a classroom was on January 13, 2015, at Vineyard Elementary School. I was so excited to start the first day of this great opportunity to be in the classroom. I assisted the teacher as soon as I arrived by playing several learning games with students. Because I was in a special education classroom there weren't as many students as there normally would be in a typical class. As I played with the class, the teacher individually pulled students to test them on reading. After playing several games the teacher allowed me to work with various students on how to add, subtract, do long division, and spell. What I learned from helping these young students was that not everyone understands concepts the same way. And better yet, there are several ways to teach just one concept. I enjoyed my first day at Vineyard Elementary School and being able to actively participate with helping kids learn.
